In Malaysia, the abolition of the mandatory death penalty has offered a sliver of hope for women who have endured years on death row. Through stories of foreign nationals, mothers, and elderly women, this piece delves into the human cost of the death penalty. Many of these women were coerced into crimes, denied fair legal representation, or caught in a web of exploitation. Despite some legislative reforms, their struggles with dignity, health, and survival in prison continue to expose the harsh realities of the justice system.
